E.P.S.K.
Edgren Palmgren Sjölin Kroon

About

E.P.S.K. is a locked genealogy page containing the family tree that I, Erik, have been working on since 2020.

I use the software Gramps to build my family tree, and have active subscriptions to ArkivDigital, Ancestry and Sveriges dödbok webb. Also use Riksarkivet to download extracts from birth and death records, among other things, and Ratsit to find living relatives.

The family tree is a lifelong project and is constantly evolving. New information is added continuously, while existing and incorrect information is corrected as it is found.

The meaning of E.P.S.K.

As stated in the logo, E.P.S.K. is an abbreviation of Edgren, Palmgren, Sjölin and Kroon. Edgren is on my grandfather's side, Palmgren on my grandmother's side, Sjölin on my grandfather's side, and Kroon on my grandmother's side.

Edgren and Palmgren are from Munkfors and Ransäter in Värmland, Sjölin is from Helsingborg in Skåne, and Kroon is from Järbo in Älvsborg (Västra Götaland).

My basic rules for genealogy research
  1. All individuals in my family tree should be linked to me, with the exception of my stepmother's children and grandchildren, as well as their fathers.. Married individuals should be included in the family tree, regardless of whether they have children with my relative. Persons who are not married into the family shall not be included in the family tree unless they have children with the relative.
  2. The date of birth, date of baptism, any emigration, date of death and date of burial, as well as a person's occupation, must be confirmed by either church records, the Swedish Tax Agency, the National Archives, or Ratsit.
  3. All material that can be downloaded, scanned, or photographed must be stored on a portable SSD and backed up to a cloud service. The material is then uploaded to this website (if the person is deceased), where it is categorised and linked to the correct person.
All communication will be recorded

When I talk to a relative, either face to face or over the phone, these conversations will be recorded without asking for permission first. This is permitted under Swedish law if I myself am involved.

The material is then stored in a secure location and will never be shared without the knowledge and permission of the person concerned. This is provided that the person concerned is alive.

The main purpose is to preserve the stories and voices of my relatives, but also so that nothing is forgotten. I have a poor memory, you see.

How can I access the family tree?

You can contact me and tell me a little about yourself, mainly your name and date of birth (if you live in Sweden, this is public information). I can then check whether we are actually related.

If you are included in the family tree, you will receive your own account here. If you are not included in the family tree, you must tell me why you want to access the family tree before I send you a guest link.

The difference between a regular account and a guest link is that all pages visited via a guest link are stored on the server. The owner of the family tree can then read this log.

Why is E.P.S.K. locked?

The previous version of the website (which was not locked) had at least 19 unique visitors and a maximum of 721 unique visitors over a period of 10 days, the majority of whom were from the United States.

Based on history and what is known about the United States in particular, this can be attributed to one thing: AI bots collecting data.

The family tree is not intended for data collectors to retrieve information about individuals. The tree is intended for those who are researching their family history and who can use the information for their own genealogical research.

Each person has their own wiki page

Everyone in the family tree – living and deceased – has their own little wiki page. There, you can write about what the person was like, as a fond memory, or what a living person is like.

However, the wiki is more intended for people who are no longer with us, allowing others to get to know them: their personality, their interests, what they did for a living, and so on. But the wiki is not intended for spreading negativity, hatred, or similar sentiments.

Everyone must cooperate to ensure that the information on people's wiki pages is as accurate as possible.
